2 April 2011 - 30th Anniversary Celebrations
The 30th anniversary of the first ever Friends of DalesRail
walk was celebrated on Saturday 2 April with 79 people joining
four walks from Settle and Long Preston. These converged at
Hellifield for a buffet and social gathering at the Long Drag
cafe on the station, which was attended by 69 people. A celebratory
cake was provided to mark the occasion (baking by Les Crooke,
photo above by Dave Sherbone) and we were joined by several
founder members of the society. Our current chairperson Moya
McNamara gave a short speech to mark the occasion and to look
forward to the next 30 years.
